About Bart Aldrich Bart Aldrich
takes inspiration from a wide range of visual sources and creates lasting images
noted for their vibrant colors and intimate details.
A dedicated film shooter for many years he now prefers shooting digital for the
efficiency it brings to his workflow and the flexibility he gains in doing his
own postproduction work.
Bart, who grew up in southern California lived in Hawaii for 15 years before
relocating to Hong Kong in the early 90's. It was during the four years that he
lived in Asia and while visiting more than a dozen southeast Asian countries
that his passion for photography was rekindled. Working exclusively with
film for over a decade he honed his eye for the heart of a location and it's
native peoples.
Bart has since relocated to the scenic desert near Palm Springs California. Here
he exhibits his work in 10-12 art shows a year and is within reach of a myriad
of scenic locales around California and the great Southwest.
Today, in addition to landscapes and nature, Bart explores aspects of his own
acrylic paintings done on canvas for nuances of inspiration to create what he
calls 'photo-painting'. Don't miss his dynamic new look that is cropping up in
the homes of discerning collectors not only in the Palm Springs area, but in
fine homes from Beverly Hills and La Jolla to Sedona, Scottsdale and beyond!
Photo-Painting
Bart's New Technique in Abstract Photography
By combining photography with the creativity of abstract paintings, Bart is able
to venture into a whole new frontier of abstract art photography.
It all began one morning when Bart was struck by how a portion of his own
original abstract paintings (that he painted himself) glistened and danced in
the light and shadow of the morning sun. The effect was so captivating, he
photographed it.
Later, a sudden inspiration led him to
combine it with equally inspiring segment(s) from his own paintings which
resulted in a strikingly unique and beautiful new composition. The first and
original photo-painting "Red Shadows" is pictured above.
Bart
calls this technique Photo-Painting, It gives him an added dimension to capture
and create an ever more imaginative landscape of color, shape, form, depth,
texture and emotion.
